I promised it would not be that long before I posted classroom pictures and I am trying my best to keep that promise!
I am going to start with our classroom library. Given my love of books, it is naturally my favorite place in the room!
This is our library. I have tons more books in a store room. I am going to trade baskets out this year to keep interest in the library (hopefully). The United States rug was from Target over the summer. I was about $25 and I thought it was a great deal! I did not see it on their website, but it could still be in stores since I only got it in July.
I love well organized books!
To the left of the library is our special book shelf with seasonal books…that I need to trade out soon! There are also two bean bag chairs. Two students a day sit on the bean bags and it is based on a rotation. You can see the little chart to the left of the window. It is simply a pretty, enlarged class list that I laminated and we move two clothes pins next to the names of the students that get to use the bean bags that day.
This is the math board above the library. I know it is odd to have it over the library, but I like my CAFE and reading info over my guided reading area so I can refer to it. We only have one long board so the other half has to be math. The board is pretty bare and builds over time. There are the coins that I still need to label. On the right side of the board is how to solve a word problem from our helping others with math part of guided math.
Above the math board are numbers in word form. Some also have a picture (20 and below before it got to be too many dots).
A preview:
Cute but super simple. I have loaded them in my
TpT store for $1. However, my blog followers and Facebook followers can get them as a gift from me
FREE. The deal? Click
here to download. After midnight tonight they will be on sale for $1 so get it now! 🙂
Another favorite area of mine is the whole group area. We do most lessons on this carpet and on the carpet in the front of the room.
Book boxes behind the easel.
My messy easel that I adore. The thing hanging off of it is
BRAIDY by
Mindwing. Brilliant story tool for retelling AND writing. VERY expensive (in my book) but worth every penny. My school bought every 2nd grade teacher a kit and I LOVE it.
This is the shelf next to my easel. It holds our office walls, headphones to drown out noise, math centers and manipulatives, and word work.
This is our messy word work. I will do a post on it soon since it is working so well.
This is our cutie estimation jar. I will post about that later too….but now I am tired. AND my little girl is up. So I must go! Blogging time is officially over. I will pick it back up soon! I apologize for any typos- I had no time to proof!!!
