School supplies are out at Wal-Mart. I tried to walk by, I really did. I even filled my cart up with groceries and shampoo for my husband. Then I made my mistake. I thought I would just *peek* to see if the composition folders were out because those tend to fly off shelves.
Oh my.
Suddenly, I had 25 red, 25 yellow, and 25 blue folders, 25 composition notebooks, 18 packs of glues sticks and 4 packs of cap erasers in my cart. How did that happen?
Then I thought since I had already blown it, I might as well go down the college/ dorm room aisle (I am beginning to get a feeling of why my diets never work…hmmmm). I found these awesome bath caddies of $1 each! Score! They are black and match my black borders! I figure I will use them for communal supplies and set them on the black drawer sets at each table. I thought six caddies for six dollars was a deal!
I need to make pretty labels for them… adding that to the to do list.
I am currently working on several things. I like to start 200 projects. Finishing them is not nearly as much fun! One of them is a beginning of the year unit teaching students conventions of conversation. So much of the new Common Core Standards revolve around students talking, but after my summer school experience I am learning kids talk AT each other, not with each other! Right now it is about 6 partner activities. I have two lessons around books planned- but I need the books to ship from Amazon to make sure, and then I will move to conventions of conversations in a large group. Whew. Here is a sneak peak of everything so far…
I am hoping to get it finished by the end of July before 2013 soon. : )

This looks fantastic. I hear ya about conversations…we call it "accountable talk" and it has become a BIG focus with our board. Can't wait to see your resource when it's all finished and ready to sell.
I am hosting a little giveaway. Check it out, if you'd like to…

This is exciting – communication is a huge skill for us in special education and the more I can incorporate it, the better. I will definately be looking for this unit when it is done.

Same thing happened to me! I was just going to look at the composition books. Oh well, at least we'll have what we need!
